Apple  Gatherers

2024

Apple Gatherers is an animation short film that I participated in as an animator in 2024.      Trailer
The story is about the loneliness and dissatisfaction in a labour-intensive world, and the brief reprieve we have in moments of real human connection.  

Composition in the post-production stage
We start by mapping the character’s movement, breaking the action into key poses, tempo, and frequency. Using tracing paper on a peg bar for perfect registration, I pencil the key frames and mark timing with simple charts. This locks the rhythm.


Next, I add in-betweens to bridge the keys, refining arcs, spacing, and follow-through 
So the motion feels natural. Small touches—overshoot, settle, and subtle squash-and-stretch. I then do a clean-up pass to sharpen contours and unify line weight.


Finally, I repaint the approved frames using specialised techniques and pigments to add texture and depth. I capture each frame in Dragonframe for rock-solid exposure and alignment. After a light grade and assembly, the sequence is finished.
